What podcasts are and how they are used in corporate marketing

Have you ever thought about podcasts as a tool to share business content, in a digital marketing strategy? If you have not already done so, we show you why it could be a good idea in different business sectors

Although competition is very high - streaming and video in particular - podcasts have their niche as a digital channel. Through these audio files, available on demand , companies, small and large, can offer quality content to their target audience. With consequent advantages in the marketing plan.

Podcast companies: what are they and what are their benefits?

Podcasts are audio files, generally in MP3 format (but not only), which can be downloaded by users from a web page and saved on their device. Is it worth considering them as tools for an effective marketing strategy? It depends on the objectives set, but in the meantime you can evaluate some advantages of their use:

They respond to needs - Because the podcast content is 'used up' when the user wants and has time to listen. Which, given its mobile friendly nature , can occur in any context: during a lunch break, on the move, on vacation ... You publish them and your target audience decides when and how to listen to them: an effective response to a need for access free and autonomous information.

They do branding - because they make the brand recognizable, leaving the virtual dimension to enter the real one through the voice.

They create leads - because you can combine the possibility of downloading the corporate or professional podcast for free with the compilation of a form with the request for user data. You will thus have the opportunity to learn more about your market niche.

How do you make a podcast?

The equipment to create a podcast is small and cheap: headphones and a microphone are just enough to start. Specialized platforms are available online - among which the most used are Spreaker and Soundcloud - which allow the creation of podcasts in an elementary way, with free features and premium subscription plans.

If you are a little familiar with the tool, there are also free software for post-production care . When you have finished the preparation phases, you can move on to distribution: publication on the company blog, sharing on social networks, communication via newsletter etc.

Examples of topics for a corporate podcast

What are the contents of a corporate podcast? It obviously depends on the sector of your business. The podcast can be an impact tool for the " Who we are and mission " section of the site , with anecdotes from personal history and the brand designed to catch the attention of listeners.

If you are a professional you can use them for in-depth content, with advances from the case histories of greatest interest to your audience. If you have a hotel in a city of art you could suggest, with various podcasts in different languages, the 5 attractions not to be missed for a tourist; or even share the recipe of a typical local dish. In conclusion, the instrument is suitable for not only radio use and can be used in many business and professional scenarios .

How to sell online?

How to sell online? There are several more or less advanced systems for selling your products online. This post was born from the need to share the experiences of many of our customers who, during the difficult period of the lockdown caused by the coronavirus, found themselves having to manage sales in some way, even though their companies were closed. The recurring question was: “ I have a shop and I want to sell online: how can I start selling via the internet? ".

Our response has always been the same: first of all we have provided our customers with advice to try to exploit this period, transforming it , if possible, into a constructive opportunity . In this article you can read our tips.

We then tried to explain to them that the time has come when all companies organize themselves to create an e-commerce site . The internet sales channel must operate in parallel with traditional sales channels: they must complement each other in a synergistic and harmonious manner.

The market is now mature and forced quarantine has broken down the last barriers of distrust towards online shopping: this opportunity must be exploited, even by small commercial realities.

With this guide we want to share our advice with you too, starting from concrete cases.

Ok, but how do I sell online without an e-commerce? The problem is just this: selling your products online requires organization, long-term strategy, marketing actions and a certain budget to invest. Our advice, especially for smaller businesses or otherwise not equipped for online sales, is to approach this new sales channel gradually .

There is no magic recipe : therefore, even if you do not yet have a structured e-commerce, we advise you to experiment gradually and proportionate to your economic possibilities, always measuring them and evaluating them objectively, to allow your company to gradually adapt to the new dynamics related to online sales . Try, test, straighten the bar. The advantage of smaller companies is linked to greater flexibility. Imagination, combined with that touch of healthy entrepreneurial madness, can also be the key to success for your business.

P make our advice as a starting point, which you will then have to customize and develop according to the specificity of your business and your experience. Each action requires different budgets and times: evaluate and implement in the most useful way for your company. But do it strategically on the basis of a medium-long time horizon, so that nothing goes to waste.

Now let's see how to start selling online in a very short time and, if possible, with little budget . At the bottom of the article we also explain how to manage deliveries.

1 - Sell by phone

Collecting orders over the phone is the oldest technique , certainly not very modern, but always effective. If you have a good relationship with your customers, let them know that they can call you and that you can collect orders over the phone. It's free and, if you chat verbally, you will see that you will be able to consolidate the relationship with them more.

How to let your customers know they can order over the phone?

Communicate it on your site . If you have a consolidated community in your social channels, communicate it there too.

If you have a mailing list, send an informative newsletter to all your customers , always in compliance with the legislation on privacy, I recommend (if you do not have a well organized and possibly segmented mailing list, the time has come to build it: IMMEDIATELY!). Once the mechanism has run in, wait for the first orders: when they arrive it will be a beautiful surprise.
Ah, a little detail: it's free!

2 - Sell by email

Let's take a small step forward and start using technology.

Notify your customers that you can make home deliveries and regulars to send you an email with the order . It is a small step forward compared to the previous point, but much more comfortable for you, because you avoid wasting time on the phone: the phone call interrupts the activity you are carrying out at that moment, while you can organize yourself to manage emails in certain time slots. The conversation is asynchronous, with all the advantages that come with it.
Again, it's free.

3 - Sell with Whatsapp
Let's take another step forward. We all have Whatsapp and use it. Just everyone.

Why not sell with Whatsapp and use it as an order collection system? It is simple, immediate, intuitive. Whatsapp is also very useful for strengthening relationships with your customers, by communicating with them directly. If you have not yet used Whatsapp to build a relationship with your customers, the time has come to start doing it: NOW!

News are always welcome. You will see what a pleasant surprise to find that your loyal customers have missed your products and that they are very happy to order from you, even with this new method.
Again the good news is that it's free!

How to let your customers know they can order via Whatsapp

If you have one or more groups on Whatsapp in which you have inserted your customers or, better still, specific groups of customers, use this tool to communicate to them that they can send you orders via Whatsapp. If you don't have active groups, communicate this new opportunity to your customers, through the channels we have seen previously.

How to integrate Whatsapp into your website

We give you an extra idea, which requires a little programming intervention.
Why don't you integrate Whatsapp into your site to use the site as a connection tool between you and your customers via mobile phone? in this way the chat started by the user on the site arrives directly on your Whatsapp account.

If your site was created with WordPress, it's very easy : there are plug-ins that deal with integration. In most cases they are free and the configuration is very simple. Here are some.
If you are not familiar with plug-ins and the cost for your agency is too high, look for a consultant on freelance platforms such as Fiverr for a few euros. At this link you can find some example results .

Integrate Whatsapp into social channels

It is possible to integrate Whastapp with Facebook and Messenger, so that users can automatically connect via a button with your Whatsapp account. It can be a useful tool, it certainly deserves to be evaluated.

Whatsapp Business

Whatsapp Business is a free app designed for small business owners . Facilitates customer relationship management thanks to some additional features that make it unique and useful.
In fact, it is possible to enter the company's website, as well as allowing the management of automatic replies, the analysis of usage data, broadcasting lists and groups. The app can also be activated on a landline number.

Whatsapp Business also allows the creation of a catalog, a sort of virtual showcase through which to show products and services. For each product you can enter photos, description, price and code.
Here the indications to create the catalog .

4 - Orders via Messenger

You can also use Messenger to collect orders with your customers . The same considerations that we made in the previous point with respect to Whatsapp apply.

Messenger is very popular because it is integrated with Facebook (and like Whatsapp is owned by Facebook), so it is an excellent tool for collecting orders.

Like Whatsapp, Messenger can also be easily integrated into your site .

5 - Live chat systems on your site

If your site is well done, it works, it has good traffic, your customers are used to using it and maybe it has a good SEO services optimization , you can consider integrating a web chat system on the site.
These are systems of direct dialogue with customers very similar to those seen in the previous points.

There are many technical solutions. We must evaluate the pros and cons in advance, we must be sure that they are stable and with a good user experience: if they are poorly designed, they are not fluid and they get stuck, customers get nervous and we do not do a good service.
The technologically most reliable solutions are not free.
Here are some examples of WordPress solutions.

6 - Sale by video call

Imagine that your customers have already been informed that you are available for remote sale. Let's imagine that you have already activated one of the communication channels seen in the previous points. Now let's try to imagine a more personalized and sensory sales experience .

We will tell you about the case of a friend of ours. He is the owner, together with his brother, of a wine shop.

They do not have an active e-commerce on the site, but they did not get caught up in the discomfort of the moment during the lockdown for the Coronavirus. They communicated to all customers the willingness to collect orders remotely and invented Drink @ Home, the sale with video call. By making an appointment with the customer, through video call they welcome the customer into the shop, talk to him as if he were physically close to them, accompany him on the shelves, tell him about the characteristics of the wines and make him live a new sensorial experience.
The operation was successful beyond expectations and have been mentioned in the newspapers.

Why don't you try to imagine something similar for your shop?

7 - Facebook showcase

You can sell your products directly through Facebook , which is perfect from this point of view.
There are two ways to sell products through Facebook: you can sell them in the marketplace or you can create a virtual shop through a showcase on your Facebook page .
Obviously you must have a company page.

8 - Sell with Instagram

Instagram is increasingly popular. It is visual and perfect for selling online.
The platform is growing a lot from this point of view and new features have recently been introduced aimed at promoting products and selling directly via Instagram.

These options are valid if you already have an e-commerce developed. Instagram integrates with Shopify and BigCommerce. You can read this guide for Instagram.

To activate shopping on Instagram you must have an active showcase on Facebook and many fans.
As we have seen for Facebook, Instagram also becomes an important sales tool if combined with sponsored campaigns on specific targets.

But that's not what we wanted to talk to you about here: imagining that you don't have an e-commerce already active and fully functional, you can take advantage of Instagram to promote your products through posts and stories and collect orders not via e-commerce, but via message, which you will manage with the methods seen above.

We can tell you the example of Serendipity Aesthetics , also from Turin. Maria Laura is not only a dear friend, but a great professional, who impeccably manages Instagram and uses it regularly to collect orders and dispense her "Serendipitine" with advice and useful information.

How to prepare your video surveillance system for winter?

Despite the mild temperatures of this month of October, autumn takes precedence over summer and brings the first frosts to dawn in some regions. These frosts herald a winter that is putting a strain on video surveillance systems. This period is dangerous for them because of the very low temperature, the wind, the rains, but also because of the drop in vigilance that you give it. In addition, burglars do not experience a drop in activity during the winter period. Here are 5 tips so that your winter does not reduce the efficiency of your video surveillance system.
Examine the optics
Before winter, go around your cameras to detect if the lenses are not scratched or broken. If they are split, the humidity will sound the death knell for your protection. A weakened glass will also be less resistant to attacks by the wind and what it projects.
Check your protective cases
The protective boxes of your cameras represent the first barrier against the weather. Your boxes must be in perfect condition, correctly positioned on the cameras and fully waterproof against dust and water.
Walk around your power cables
The power cables of your cameras suffer a lot in winter because of the permanent humidity. Your outdoor cameras are particularly sensitive to this power problem. Check that the cables are in good condition and that the protective sheaths are not split anywhere.
Check the inside of each case
Protective cases are often damaged by insects, rodents or even birds. Before winter, take care that none has been visited and therefore damaged by any intruder, and make sure that no rodent has planned to hibernate there.
Install a camera resistant to very cold temperatures
The best way to guarantee maximum and permanent protection during the winter is to install a weatherproof and extreme temperature resistant camera in the most vulnerable place.
How to assess the degree of protection required for your home?
Your home certainly needs a video surveillance system, no matter the risk of burglary or theft it faces. Today, each home is a potential prey for burglars who no longer seek only to enter the homes of the wealthiest, to steal money and jewelry. This new type of burglary is large-scale and is therefore based on the number of burglary homes. Each home therefore becomes a potential target for burglars who are better and better equipped. It is therefore necessary to assess the degree of vulnerability of your home in order to be able to respond to it with a sufficient degree of protection.

What neighborhood?
It is not the neighborhood you should be afraid of, but rather the lack of neighborhood. Burglars take advantage of alleys, courtyards, each dead end or little-used and not very visible way. They are also looking for entrance doors that are not directly visible through a neighbor's window. So you should pay attention to these details, even if you live in a dense urban area.
What lighting?
When you have an isolated house, the night becomes a considerable and difficult to control enemy. You must make sure that you illuminate your site sufficiently, so that it is visible from the nearest road. You can also opt for aisles lit by paths of LED lamps, which have a strong illuminating power on night silhouettes.
 Which access point?
Although it may seem obvious, you must ensure the quality of your front door and the capacity it will have to resist a burglary attempt. It must be equipped with at least three anchor points, either through a single lock or through 3 different locks. The protection offered by your front door will also determine the quality of insurance coverage for your claim.
How to choose a camera according to its exposure to light?
A security camera in Chicago works on the basis of light outside its system, which allows it to accurately reflect the colors and shapes of what it films. Whether it films in black and white or in color, it must recover a minimum of predetermined light, in order to provide images which will be usable in the context of your video protection. This brightness must be measured before a camera is chosen for a particular room or a particular role. This article allows you to choose your camera according to the brightness under which it will evolve in the area in which you want to install it.
Choose the right cameras: wired or wireless?
When buying a video surveillance system, the first question faced by an individual is the following: should I install cameras connected by wires, or cameras connected by wifi? Beyond being a simple difference in aesthetics or visual comfort, the fact that your cameras are connected by wire or not determines a number of important parameters. Before you start installing a video surveillance system, it is therefore essential to know the advantages and disadvantages of these two types of video surveillance systems. This article will help you choose between wireless cameras and wired cameras, depending on how much protection you want for a particular room.
Discretion or deterrence?
Two approaches to video surveillance determine the appearance of your video surveillance system. If you decide that your video surveillance system must be visible and dissuasive, install cameras connected by wire. If, on the contrary, you want your surveillance to be discreet and only have an effect once the intrusion has been committed, bet on more discreet wireless cameras.
Solidity or simplicity?
Your video surveillance system must adapt to its vulnerability. A store owner will often opt for a wireless system, which is more difficult to vandalize than a system with easily breakable wires. An individual wishing to worry little about the qualities of a wifi connection will opt for a simpler system, in a context where the chances of vandalism are more reduced.
 Maintenance or technology?
These two types of systems require different levels of maintenance. The wired system requires attention to the condition of the wires, and regular DIY work on painting or coating in the areas carrying the Chicago CCTV camera. A wireless and more autonomous system and does not need such meticulous maintenance. However, an owner of this type of system must know a minimum of wireless connections and exchanges.

The factors influencing CTR: what they are and how to work with them

There are 3 most important factors to work on to improve Click through Rate. In this article we give you some tips to make them perform.

What are the factors that influence the Click Through Rate (CTR) , that is the click rate in the search? A recent study by Ignite Visibility , an American digital marketing agency, says that there are three elements that have the greatest impact on CTR:
  • The meta description : 62.9%
  • The brand name : 24.2%
  • The title tag : 13%

Other data to be taken into consideration in a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy relate to improvements in search results of the last year, in particular starting from January 2019: for example, the inclusion of featured snippets and other elements of the SERP.

In this article we go into more detail, so that we can better understand the importance of these factors in making users click on a result related to their online business.

CTR and Meta description

As we have seen, the factor that most influences CTR is the meta description . Hence the importance of writing descriptions that intrigue the reader, that attract attention and manage to convince him in about 250 characters.

Although it has been known since 2009 that the meta description is not a ranking factor, if well prepared it has an enormous impact on the CTR.

How should a good meta description be?

  • It must contain at least the main keyword , to prevent Google from automatically creating its own meta description
  • It must be unique and not a repetition of descriptions of other pages
  • Must suggest something more than the title
  • It is important that it contains a Call To Action (CTA)
  • It must not exceed the number of characters

CTR and branding

The data, perhaps more unexpected than this study, is that relating to the important influence that brand recognition has on CTR . 24.2% of respondents say that in search results, they only click on the results of the brand they have already dealt with in the past.

For this reason, with a view to improving the Click Through Rate , it is important to work on brand awareness , or on the degree of recognition of a product by the consumer through the name or logo.
To ensure that the user has imprinted the brand of the company where you work, you can invest in social media marketing strategies and in virtual places where the company can actively respond to reviews and offer solutions to customer problems.

CTR and Title

The most important part of the search result, which is also a ranking factor, is the title tag which, according to the Ignite Visibility survey, influences the CTR for 13%.
Thinking about creating a title tag by filling it with keywords can bring immediate results, but for a long time it could give significant disadvantages, namely a penalty by Google and, therefore, a low CTR.

To optimize the title and encourage the increase in CTR, it is necessary to follow some good practices, which we summarize below:
  • The title tag must not exceed 60/70 characters , to prevent Google from truncating the sentences in the SERP
  • Like the metadescription, the title must be unique and not a copy of others on your web pages;
  • It must be as clear and explicit as possible . Here are some examples: "How to ...", "Guide to create ...", "3 tricks that not everyone knows"
  • It must provide solutions to common problems;
  • The use of numbers , but also of square brackets and hashtags , can greatly attract people's attention;
  • Preferring common sense and balance is the best way to create a convincing title tag . Exaggerations must be avoided.

3 SEO strategies: Keyword Strategy

In the previous article, " 10 steps for positioning a website in Google ", I dealt with the basic techniques (mostly concerning the "mechanical" part of the site) for search engine optimization, useful for obtaining a website positioning high in the search engine ranking, focusing on examples for optimization in Google and with the Wordpres CMS (Content Management System).

With this article I would instead like to start analyzing in more detail the 3 fundamental and general strategies used by those who offer SEO services to position on the web: Keyword Targeting, Content Marketing, Link Building. By following these strategies, in order, it is possible to get to know the reference market better, identify possible customers, and better create a strategy that meets the objectives set, and to reach the chosen target. In this article I will focus on Keyword Targeting , the first and fundamental strategy for a good seo, valid for anyone who has created a website and wants to optimize it .

“Keyword research is one of the most important, valuable, and high return activities in the search marketing field. Ranking for the "right" keywords can make or break your website "SeoMoz

According to SeoMoz, “Without keywords, there is nothing in seo. Keywords can be considered as the vehicle of the campaign and inbound links , their fuel. Much of the success and results will be guided by each of the chosen sentences . "

But not only keyword research is important. Nowadays, in seo for 2020, it is very important to the search for related keywords or related keywords . There aren't many online tools that allow you to find related keywords. The only tool that seems to be present on the market today, which allows you to search for keywords related to the topic or market niche, a new tool related keywords research .

The choice of phrases suitable for the specific type of market, their analysis to understand their competitiveness and costs, their performance , research trends, the analysis of possible results, are therefore all factors to be taken into consideration for a good positioning .

It is first of all indicated to focus the target audience, and brainstorm key words that are apparently useful for indexing the site. In the slide below, seoMoz illustrates the target analysis process, explaining how to analyze the target of our keywords, we must ask ourselves some questions:  1. Who am I dealing with? Age, Gender, Lifestyles, where information is found, etc. 2. What is the topic of the speech? What actions involve my target, etc. 3. What is the purpose of research for my target? Information, Purchase etc.

Target positioning, Keyword strategy & study

Once the target has been analyzed, and some search queries that can reflect their behavior have been identified , there are several  online tools  that help in the analysis of keywords and competitor sites , all very efficient and all with strengths and weaknesses. In this article I will analyze some of the most common ones, namely Google tools, and SEMrush, an excellent online program for analyzing the competition, listing together with the programs the various steps to follow for choosing advantageous keywords for positioning  websites on search engines.

1. Google Webmasters Tool (which allows you to verify the ownership of your site and analyze its internal performance) offers an excellent tool for analyzing the search terms that bring (or could lead, for websites not yet indexed) traffic to our site , or how many impressions and possibly how many clicks ( conversions ) the terms searched by users brought. Entering the Webmasters Tool, in the left menu, in "Traffic / Search Query" you can access the statistics and results area that the key phrases have brought to the site. This is a tool that should be used over time to see performance of a keywords campaign started, and correct if necessary. However, before starting the campaign, it may be helpful to take a look at it, to understand suggestions on search terms that could be used to start positioning a website for those specific terms.

2. Google AdWords  is one of the most used tools for the study of keywords useful for website positioning, available for free by creating an account. AdWords allows the planning of advertisements in Google, and contains a specific section, in "Tools and Analysis / Keyword Tool ", to analyze various factors relating to one or more search terms. Once inside, just enter in the "Word or Sentence" section some key words and phrases, one per line, which must be previously chosen as target wordsfor the average user who visits the site (for example wondering what a user will look for in order to get to our product / service). Selecting then, from the left menu "Correct match type" and also wanting "Phrase", and choosing the search criteria (eg location, language, devices etc.) you get a detailed analysis of these phrases.

The most interesting data are the global and local monthly searches (the number represents an index, and is not to be considered as the actual number of users), the competition  for this word or phrase (important, for a site not yet indexed, that the competition both medium or low) and global research trends (to analyze the trend or way in which research evolves over time). From the " Columns " section , however, you can choose the search criteria you prefer. At the bottom of the chosen sentences there are also tips from Google on similar search terms. It is important to consider them in your seo analysis, before selecting and exporting all the keywords and key phrases that can lead to more traffic with less effort. Once the preferred terms have been selected, in " Download " it is possible to easily download the collected data in excel files.

3. Google Trends - It is an excellent tool that allows you to make a comparison of the keywords chosen, to see the progress of the search over time. The use is simple: when you enter Google Trends with your Google account, you enter one or more search terms, separated by commas. The result will be a graph, with the search trends for that term from the past until today, and it is useful to keep it in mind to see which terms can be most profitable . The search can be customized, choosing where to limit it in Google (youtube, images, news etc.), geographically, over time, and in the category. There is also the section “ related terms"Which allows you to analyze terms similar to those taken into consideration.

4. SEMrush allows you to analyze both the search queries and the sites of its competitors. Depending on what you already know, or what you want to know, you can enter both the search term and the website (competitor or own) for analysis. In the first case, the result will show data similar to that of Google (adwords etc.), with the additional possibility of analyzing the existing competitors for that keyword. Inserted a competitor site for analysis, the program allows us to find out the traffic of that site, what are its main keywords, and how much monthly traffic they bring. There are many other excellent data and tools within seorush, some free and some paid, but the statistics so far dealt with, are very useful for analyzing the competition before implementing your keywords strategy.

5. The points seen above allow us to understand: which search queries bring or can bring to my site, which ROI have the keywords that I would like to bring to my site (how much traffic , how much competition ), what are the search trends for my key terms, who my competitors are, and what traffic the searches on my competitors generate. These points can be repeated several times, adding and removing keywords, depending on the results obtained and the expected objectives. Furthermore, it is always important to remember that, together with the statistics, a thorough analysis is fundamental of how the results appear in the search engine (simply by searching the terms in the search engines), and an internal seo analysis on the site, to see concretely how high the competition is, how the site is structured, where the keywords are, if the keywords also pass link juice, and what is the SEO NYC strategy adopted by each of our competitors. For this type of analysis you can find excellent tools for free online.

There are many other useful tools for keywords, and to start a good positioning, each with peculiarities, but all with similar characteristics. The more time and patience it takes to search for good search terms with which to optimize (search engines) a website, the greater the performance of these terms in global searches, and the greater the possibility that more users will visit the desired result. , and that your sites rank higher in the Google ranking.
